The cam locking tool locks the two camshafts steady in position and becomes a handy and important tool when timing belt or cam gear seal changes are due.
The two ends of the tools are made to fit the two camshaft nuts in the early and later engines, so it works for MX-5 1.6 and 1.8 Engines in the NA, NB8A and NB8B cars.
Please note: The tool is made of hardened steel and tested to be capable of cracking loose the cam gear bolts.
However, this cannot be guaranteed (in case of seized, rusted connection) and is always recommended to loosen them with the belt on and the car in gear.
