Flyin Miata Rear Shock Mounts (NA 1989-1997)

We know that Miata suspension works best when you give it room to move. Unfortunately, lowering the ride height means you lose some of your crucial compression travel. This means more time on the bumpstops, a rougher ride and poor traction - not to mention unhappy passengers and drivers. The problem is particularly bad in the rear.

That's why we developed these rear mounts. They move the upper shock mounting point up, adding 33 mm (about 1.25") of compression travel at the wheel. However, the ride height is not affected. These are the only mounts on the market that will add compression travel without affecting anything else. And yes, they'll give significantly more travel than a set of NB upper mounts.

For longevity, the mounts are milled from aluminum billets and anodized. A teflon-lined, stainless steel spherical bearing locates the top of the shock. This bearing (sometimes incorrectly referred to as a "pillowball") won't increase harshness at all, but can transmit a bit more noise from inside the shock. This will usually be just a little squishing noise on big suspension movements, such as driving into a driveway. It's kind of fun really. The bearings are carefully specified for long, long life and zero maintenance.

Bumpstops are NOT included. We include bumpstops with our shocks and our Stage 1.5 and 2.5 kits that use these mounts. These mounts are not compatible with stock bumpstops, so if you have not already upgraded then you will need to do so.

These bolt right in place of stock mounts and are compatible with 2.5" coilover springs (such as the Ground Control) as well as the stock sizes. They will not work with Koni's complete coilover setup (not something we sell) due to a slightly larger spring diameter, however.

Not for use in conjunction with both the Koni Sport (yellow) shocks and the previous design FM springs, as they can cause coil bind problems. You want the current design, which is marked FMS9097REARFMMOUNT.

Sold in pairs. Not recommended for use on the front. Why not? Because if you increase the front suspension travel too much, you'll simply put your wheels into the fenders. We do recommend a pair of our bumpstops for the fronts. Also not recommended for stock height cars. Will not fit an NB chassis.

Available to fit all Miata shocks other than the AFCOs. Please specify shaft size when ordering. If your shock is not on this list, please check the diameter of the shaft. If you did not have to drill out the hole in your stock perches, it's 10 mm.
10 mm: fits KYB AGX, KYB GR2, Tokico Illumina, Tokico HP and stock shocks.
12 mm: fits Koni Sport (yellow) shocks, Koni STR-T (orange).

If your shock has 9/16" shafts, you can simply run the mounts without the inserts. These are rare.

If you're not 100% sure of your shock shaft diameter, please measure before you order these! We've heard that some shocks from certain suppliers don't always match the shaft diameters above.
