Stock Supply and Backorder Update

We have had a lot of emails, phone calls and Facebook posts about why so many of our products say 'Backorder This Product'. I wanted to write this post to answer this and provide a bit more info about our ordering process at this time. It's quite long but I appreciate you taking the time to read it.

Since March, we have been experiencing sales volumes like we have never seen before (by the way, we are all so VERY grateful for your support). This means we have had to make a lot of changes to streamline dispatch (some of you may notice large parcels are now being delivered by Toll Ipec as an example).

We are still sending heaps of parcels everyday with Australia Post & Toll and still doing our absolute best to get parcels dispatched on the same day you order. This is only possible when ordered items are in stock which brings me to my next point.

Backorder.... What does it mean?

Some questions we get asked are.... "Is it sold out and on order already?" "Will it only be ordered in IF i backorder it?" "IT NEVER SAYS IN STOCK!' To answer this, for the most part we generally have those products in transit, on a pending order with supplier or already on backorder with our supplier if they have also run out of stock.

While we would love to have EVERY product we sell in stock, in reality, dealing with hundreds of different suppliers from around the globe means this just isn't possible. We are not the type of business that doesnt post stock levels, takes your money and then makes a million excuses as to why we don't have it. We try to be as transparent as possible so you can make the decision to 'Backorder' something or not.

Using an example of a product that currently seems to always show as backorder. 'Yellow-Speed Coilovers' which are one of our most popular items. We normally carry a few sets in stock and when stock gets low we simply reorder more and have them in approximately 2 weeks. However, this was possible "Pre-Covid". Yellow-Speed are currently running on about 5-6 week lead time on manufacture and dispatch. In that time we get more and more backorders and we simply can't keep up! So while stock is arriving regularly backorders take priority and we have only been able to fulfill those backorders which means the website hasn't been showing 'In Stock'. We are now getting on top of this SLOWLY but they still sell out fast when we do get them!

Another example are Mazda shipments from Japan. Again "Pre-Covid" EMS shipments would be arriving every 3-4 days however EMS are not currently shipping to Australia and the alternate carrier seems to take about 3-4 weeks! This means even regular stocked items are just simply taking longer.

Of course there are some items we just don't carry on the shelf which we call 'Special Orders'. Over the coming months we will be making notices on those particular products that we CAN get but are generally special order items. This may be due to low popularity, low sales history or something too big to store in the workshop.

In regards to timeframes on backorders, most of the time we can give a fairly accurate estimate on delivery times but for some products we might not have an ETA from the supplier. In those cases we are at the mercy of our suppliers and when they can ship our orders.
